Our Mission

The National Association of African-Americans in the Department of Homeland Security (NAADHS) is a solution oriented non-profit 501 (c) organization comprised of positive people personifying professionalism through unity, integrity and perseverance. The mission of NAADHS is to further promote “Team DHS” by assuring equitable hiring and training as well as nurturing and improving the relationship of DHS within the community.

Created on the aspirations of its founders, NAADHS embodies strength through its DHS component and membership partnerships. NAADHS was established as a way to highlight the many employee talents within the ranks of DHS while promoting a more diverse workforce. We believe “behind every issue lays great opportunity.” Consequently, NAADHS will become the premiere association for all Department of Homeland Security employees and affiliates.

Our Activities
NAADHS will sponsor its 4TH Annual Professional Development Training Conference in 2009, which will be hosted by NAADHS members in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tentatively, the conference will consist of: break out sessions, workshops, panels, guest lecturers, community service and special emphasis projects-habitat for humanity, scholarship awards, fund raising events, open discussions and much more. To participate in activities promoting education.

To recruit and prepare individuals for various positions in DHS.
To assist members and non-members in DHS with achieving promotions.
To assist members and non-members in DHS with achieving desired assignments.
